WAYS OF GIVING

Gifts of any size are welcomed by those who wish to help us.

We are immensely grateful to all those who choose to do so. Your gift can be allocated to a fund of your choice. If you have no particular preference for any of the targets, but would nevertheless like to support our School through the Thinking of Our Tomorrow's campaign, giving ‘General Support’ means we can top up areas where there may be a shortfall or other pressing needs.

There are many ways of supporting us, with a range of tax benefits for the donor. Please contact us to find out more. Please read below for more details.

TAX EFFICIENT GIVING

Giving from the UK

CCCS is part of the Foundation of Christ Church, Oxford, a registered charity (number: 1143423) and is thus able to reclaim 25p for every £1 given by a UK taxpayer at no extra cost to the donor, provided that he/she has paid an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax equal to the tax reclaim. Therefore, a gift of £100 is worth £125 to the School.

Furthermore, higher rate taxpayers can also benefit from tax relief by claiming back the difference between the higher rates of tax at 40 or 45 per cent and the basic rate of tax at 20 per cent on the total value of their gross donation.

GIVING FROM THE USA

Donors who are taxpayers in the United States can also make tax-efficient gifts to the School. Please contact the Development Director for further details.

TYPES OF GIFT

REGULAR GIVING

A commitment is undertaken to make annual, quarterly or monthly payments for an agreed number of years (usually by standing order). This offers the School a predictable flow of income over the medium term as well as spreading the cost of the gift. Please contact the Development Director for further details.

SINGLE DONATIONS

A cash gift of any value can be made by cheque, credit card or bank transfer. Please contact the Development Director for further details.

LEGACIES - THE BREWER STREET SOCIETY

The Brewer Street Society was established to recognise all those who have kindly pledged to remember the School in their will.

A legacy is an easy and flexible way of making a gift, and may allow you to support the School in a way in which you may not be able to during your lifetime. Charitable bequests incur neither capital gains nor inheritance tax. If you are planning to leave a Legacy, we would be very grateful if you could contact our Development Director, so that we can ensure we honour your wishes with regard to its disbursement and to express our gratitude.

GIFTS OF SHARES

Gifts of shares in the UK receive income tax relief of 100% of their market value. Thus if shares worth £100k are donated tax relief based on this will be received in full, i.e. £40k at the higher rate of tax. This tax break goes straight to the donor and, in addition, gifts of shares do not attract capital gains tax. There are certain requirements of the donor, so please ask for more details.
