WOODLAND SCHOOL

At the heart of Christ Church Meadow lies our Woodland School, a large wood in the corner of our 11-acre playing fields next to the River Cherwell, an unparalleled rural idyll in the centre of Oxford.

Underneath the shady branches of the varied woodland, paths wind their way through the cow parsley which lead the children to the clearings where they learn about the natural world and the life of an English wood. There are bird boxes and homes for insects which the children look after. They also learn many outdoor crafts such as fire building and the woodland is used for art projects and other craft lessons.

'Nurturing, loving, slightly idiosyncratic, a school where boys can be themselves'

Good Schools Guide.

There have been several Teddy Bears Picnics and the area is often used for Treasure Hunts and other entertaining games. In the spring of 2022, two trees were planted to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, as part of her Green Canopy.
