At CCCS we are committed to developing and providing an environment that is stimulating, challenging and exciting and where pupils therefore feel fulfilled and confident in themselves.

The aim of our school is to produce a broad and balanced curriculum that ensures that boys leave us at 13+ with a solid base from which to move to GCSE and A Level. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to learn and to make progress and this aim is at the heart of the education that we offer. The curriculum is constantly under review and is only revised after full discussion. Essentially, our school operates a class-based structure until the end of Year 4, with increasing numbers of specialist teachers; from Year 5, all subjects are taught by specialists, although the small size of the school means that all boys are well known and supported.

Class sizes have no more than 20. In addition, we divide each class into two teaching groups for English and Maths from Year 5, and additionally Latin and French from Year 7. 

The enthusiastic nature of our boys and teachers is such that standards are often well above the expected level for pupils' ages. We engage their enthusiasm with a large amount of curriculum enrichment such as trips and visitors: easy access to these is a significant advantage of our city-centre location.
